Did You Say Lobster?

No, I said Liebster…but I’ll get to that in a minute….

First off, no big fan fare, but just wanted to mention that yesterday’s post was my 700th. I know! Can you believe it? If you’ve been with me from the beginning I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking with me thus far. If you’re new here, thanks for joining me on my journey to capture a history of our family and our silliness for my kids and hopefully one day, their kids. I hope you’ll stick around.

That brings me to my second point, which is that whether you’re aware of it or not (and I’m hoping I’m not jinxing myself by posting this) I have been participating in WordPress’ Postaday challenge for 2011. It hasn’t always been easy as I’ve had quite a challenging year with my brother’s illness and subsequent passing (and the fact that part of the time I was staying there they did not have internet connection) but I made a commitment and I’m one of those people who really tries to honor their commitment so, so far, so good. Two more weeks of posting every day and then we can ALL take a little break. I still plan on blogging next year, just not every day. I already know I’m gonna have a lot on my plate so we’ll have to see how that all plans out as to what my posting schedule will be.

Lastly, I was recently honored with an award. It’s been a long time! I would like to thank Angelia of Living, Loving, Laughing (http://youthinkyoucanblog.wordpress.com/) for thinking of me and bestowing this honor on me. She honored me with the Liebster award. I am so honored. Thank you Angelia. It means a lot. Here’s what she said about the award (from the blog that bestowed her with the award):

Thanks Angelia!

“Liebster is German and translates to the English word dearest. I am really touched to be awarded this as it’s meant for up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers so thanks ladies for passing it on to me! I hope we all get over 200 soon and can play with the big guns “

Here are the award rules:

Thank the donor and link back to their blog Publicize your top five picks for the award and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog. Post the award on your blog. Encourage the people who receive it to list their five favorites.

I know I’ve been blogging a couple of years but I don’t have 200 followers. I don’t know if I’ve ever had 200 views in a single day! I don’t know how people even begin to get 200 followers. I am grateful for the few I do have and I appreciate every one of you and I treasure your comments.

I also don’t know how to tell how many followers other blogs have. I know I’ve been at this a while but I still don’t know how to figure all that out so I’m just going to pick a few that I know that are pretty new to blogging (I think) and ones I just like!

The first person I’d like to give this award to is a new blogger I have known personally for a few years. I met her when she was in middle school I believe. She cheered with #3 and after several of them ended up on an Allstar squad an hours drive away, sometimes I’d pick them up from practice and sometimes her mom would pick them up and bring them home. I always found her to be a very polite and respectful young woman. So many of those polite young women ended up taking a much different and somewhat drastic turn with their lives. Karlye did not I am happy to say and is now a college student living in Atlanta. She started blogging in October to chronicle her life. Her blog is called KeepCalmandHaveSomeHummus  (http://karlyehayes-keepcalmandcarryon.blogspot.com/). You can find her over on Blogspot. She is a delightful and talented young woman.

The next person I’d like to give this award to is Debby over at SupAHMommy Speaks {the one and only} (http://www.supahmommyspeaks.com/) I have no idea how many followers or readers she has. She is hilarious and should have thousands. She has the unique ability to take ordinary events and put a spin on them that makes them hilarious.

Next up is Gretchen over at Second Blooming (http://www.secondblooming.typepad.com/) . Gretchen is an awesome writer and actress who put her acting career on the back burner to be an even more awesome stay at home mom. It’s obvious from her blog posts how much she cherishes her role as mom. Run over and give her a look.

Next is Carol from Wanderings of an Elusive Mind (http://www.mysiteontheweb.us/).  Carol keeps me entertained and I love her pictures.  And I love that she lives where it’s cold and I don’t!  That way I can kind of vicariously live in a cold place and stay warm right here in the south!  Wander on over and give her a read.

I’d also like to recognize is Banker Chick (http://bankerchick-writerscramp.blogspot.com/). She recently retired from the banking industry and is in the process of moving from California to the Midwest. I’m sure it will be quite an adjustment. I enjoy reading about her grandchild too (maybe I’m a little jealous since I don’t have any…hint, hint…. I know my daughter reads this!). Head on over and give her the once over too. Okay?

Enjoy your award and I don’t know if accept them or not but I want you to have them! Please give these writer’s a chance and I’m sure you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Sweet! I will definitely check them out. 700 YOWSA! That’s tremendous! I just published my 421st! (I think?). Sad thing is, I just saw the number and it whooshed out of my head!
So glad you enjoyed the award! I have been here from the beginning. I wouldn’t have missed it.

Thank you very much and I will pass it on tomorrow and look over your recipents today. I found you this year on the writing blogs and love to read you especially your travel pictures, I want to go to some of those places once Mr Bankerchick start traveling this spring.

  3. Awww, thank you Peg! I will treasure the award, and pass it on – after I carefully select the recipients, of course.
I admire your resolve and stick-to-itiveness – I have lofty plans sometimes, but am not nearly as diligent as you. I enjoy sharing parts of your life, and look forward to that continuing.
